Public Transport Location Gets 70 Contact-Free Temperature Self-Check Kiosk
The Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth (MCCY) on Wednesday, Jun 24 mentioned that there will be contact-free temperature self-check kiosks that will be gradually updated at 70 public transport locations islandwide by the third quarter of 2020.
This Safe Management Measure is to ensure the safety of public transport, workplaces, schools, malls, and community facilities after phase 2 reopening. As fever is one of the typical symptoms of Covid-19, while this would not detect asymptomatic cases, this initiative is to remind those with symptoms to stay at home and seek medical attention if required.
With the public transport covering the highest amount of commuters on public transporting, this kiosk will be able to monitor health checks for the public as the to the date, the kiosk have been deployed at five locations: Braddell MRT station, Boon Keng MRT station, Tiong Bahru MRT station, Bukit Panjang bus interchange and Serangoon bus interchange.
The device does not have any data collection or image storage capabilities so no personal data will be tagged to the temperature readings, while the operating of the device will take about two seconds to measure a person’s temperature. The temperature measured are within 0.3 degrees Celsius accuracy,
