Singapore GE2020: Nomination Day On June 30, Polling Day on July 10
Singapore will be having their polling days on July 10 confirmed by the Elections Departments on 23 June. meanwhile, the Nomination Day will be on June 30 confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office. Which means the political parties can campaign for the minimum of nin days with the day before Polling Day as the Colling-off Day.
The Nine nomination centres where candidates can submit their nomination papers are:
- Bendemeer Primary School, for Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC), Jalan Besar GRC, Radin Mas Single Member Constituency (SMC) and Tanjong Pagar GRC
- Chongfu School, for Kebun Baru SMC, Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, Nee Soon GRC and Sembawang GRC
- Deyi Secondary School, for Aljunied GRC, Ang Mo Kio GRC, Marymount SMC and Yio Chu Kang SMC
- Jurong Pioneer Junior College, for Chua Chu Kang GRC, Hong Kah North SMC and Pioneer SMC
- Kong Hwa School, for MacPherson SMC, Marine Parade GRC, Mountbatten SMC and Potong Pasir SMC
- Methodist Girls’ School, for Bukit Panjang SMC and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC
- Nan Hua High School, for Bukit Batok SMC, Jurong GRC, West Coast GRC and Yuhua SMC
- Poi Ching School, for Hougang SMC and Tampines GRC
- St. Anthony’s Canossian Primary School, for East Coast GRC, Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, Punggol West SMC and Sengkang SMC.
Candidates also must meet the following conditions in order to be allowed to enter the nominations centres are:
- The candidate has been issued a political donation certificate
- The candidate is accompanied by a proposer, a seconder and at least four assentors-
- In the case of GRC candidates, the relevant candidate in the group has been issued the relevant certificate from either the Malay Community Committee or the Indian and Other Minority Communities Committee. Each GRC can have three to six candidates, one of whom must be from the Malay community or the Indian or other minority communities.
While, due to the Covid-19 situation, all candidates are encouraged to use the digital services on ELD’s website and prepare their nomination papers, which will enable them to check which is their subscribers belong to the correct electrical division and print them before Nomination Day.
