SIA Stewardess Gets Injured On Flights With More Issue Afterwards
A former Singapore Airlines (SIA) stewardess shows that during the working time you can sustain an injury at works and it might not be as simple as simple injuries on 19 Jun.
From her comments, she claims that she got injured during a flight when she was helping to put the passenger’s bag in the overhead compartment when her hand got trapped under one of the compartments. Due to her hand was trapped, she was pulling her hand upwards and inwards while her body is dangling slightly standing up by lifting her feet up. After she did a cold compress she continues with her works and she went to visit a doctor after landing in Singapore. The doctor give her 2 big steroids jabs and 2 months of medical leave which her record only can result in a minor work accident and SIA could only compensate her roughly $6,000 for this injury case.
Out of her expectation, her injury got worst when she experienced a paralysis to a quarter of her body which cause her to land in the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department. With more diagnosed checked, she was found having a large cervical slipped disk which unable to link the 2 cases together with the earlier case, she couldn’t seek compensation from SIA.
As she is unable to continue working, she has to resign from her job. With more worst thing to happens later on, after she secured a job at General Practitioner’s (GP) clinic, she manages to find that a muscle tear that required multiple surgeries. In which, she said that the amount of her accumulated medical bills has reached a quite large amount. Luckily SIA has helped with the coverage and her insurance has helped her further.
She hopes that by sharing her stories, the public can be more aware when it comes to being more considerate towards cabin crew as their job can be very difficult sometimes and lucky for her, she has managed to get herself covered by the compensation and insurance coverage.
