DPM Heng, S’pore Jobs, And Economy Is Top Priority Now
On a series of National Ministerial broadcast on Jun 20, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Heng Swee Keat mentioned that Singapore now will focus on fighting this crisis together and stronger by emphasizing that the importance of ensuring all Singaporean have jobs are very critical steps which they are focusing on it now on overcoming the damage done by the current Covid-19 pandemic.
With the record of declining in unemployment, aiding and reaching out to those who are jobless with the SGUnited Jobs and Skill Package, over 100,000 new jobs and training will be available soon so that this step will be crucial to help to reshape the economy in 3 important ways:
- Remaining an open, trading nation – to ensure critical supply lines continue running regardless of what happens globally
- Investing in infrastructure – to maintain constant connectivity
- Investing in research and innovation – to sharpen our competitiveness, $20 billion set aside to support research in areas like health & biomedical sciences, climate change and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
