No Physical Rallies On GE If Kickstart During Phase 2
With the General Election (GE) coming closer, the possibilities of holding this even during the Covid-19 periods get higher by the day. On 18 Jun, the Elections Department (ELD) released a list of guidelines with the Ministry Of Health (MOH) to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during these GE campaign periods.
These updated rules were no physical rallies are allowed to take place, meanwhile, all political parties can run their rallies via online live streams. Parties are also allowed to hold Constituency Political Broadcast (PCB( in any of the 4 official language and candidates contesting in Single Member Constituency (SMC) will be given 3 minutes of airtime on CHannel 5, meanwhile in Group Representation Constituency (GRC) will follow the guideline of 4-member GRC for 12 minutes airtime and 5 member GRC for 15 minutes airtime.
However, candidates are still allowed to conduct walkabout and door-to-door campaigning but must follow the safe distancing guidelines, with groups of 5 or lesser members and no handshake during the whole process. Other than this, perambulating vehicles are also allowed for the upcoming GE but with no music or video broadcast, no live speaker & no live streaming.
