No Mid-Year Bonus For Civil Servants, First Time Over 10 Years
During these hard times amid the Covid-19 crisis. For the first time, civil servants won’t be receiving any mid-year bonus after announced by The Public Service Division (PSD) on 18 Jun.
In addition, some senior officers will take additional pay cuts of up to a month’s pay due to the current crisis. While the employment rate in the first quarter of 2020 was reported to contract sharply, but the current retrenchment amount is increasing due to this pandemic too. While the situation isn’t set in stone for the year-end bonus, there’ll be special consideration given to lower-wage workers. Normally, they’ll get a lump sum payment.
