Grab company is cutting about 360 jobs or about 5% of its headcount due to the economic fallout from the Covid-19. Co-founder Anthony Tan announced this cuts on June 16 during the town hall meeting which is now limited to 18,000 drivers.
Mr. Tan also assure that this will be the last layoff this year and he mentioned that he is pretty confident as with the new plan ahead, they will be able to meet the targets and will not go through this same painful exercise again.
The fall down of their current business was mostly due to a lot of Singaporean stayed at home to work and it just not enough to cover back up. Staff affected by the cuts will be notified through e-mail on Tuesday as Grab earlier has cut the pays of their senior management by up to 20 percent and encouraging staff to take voluntary no-pay leave as part of cost-cutting measures also.
