During the Circuit Breaker period, 3 men who kayaked to Pulau Ubin from Pasir Ris Park were jailed for four weeks. In addition, they have also been fined according to the local news reports.

Zulman Mashonain and Rizani Sham Mohamed Hussin were both fined S$1,500 given that they had also caught fish and prawns in Chek Jawa, which is an area marked for conservation, while the third man, Mohamed Hafiz Mat Nadar, was fined S$700.

According to the local news, they have gathered at Pasir Ris Park on April 13 around 7 pm. Then they kayaked to Pulau Ubin arriving at Chek Jawa Wetlands around 10 pm. Upon their arrival, they have set up fire and camp with hammocks. They were spotted by an officer from the National Parks Board on the following day around 10 am. As they were advised by the officer to leave the island as it was Circuit Breaker period, instead they packed up, and instead of heading back, they had their lunch near Mamam campsite and kayaked around Pulau Ketam to look for more fishing grounds.
