
S’pore Unemployment Highest In 10 Year With High Retrenchment In Q1

According to the latest labour market report from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), the current unemployment rate ins Singapore is at its highest point in 10 years so far due to the effects of Covid-19 outbreak.
With the numbers of 67,100 citizens were unemployed in March 2020 as compared to 63,500 in December 2019. And the sector which was hit the worst were the consumer F&B services, retail trade, tourism sector are some of the most affected among another sector during this outbreak.
MOM reported that they will continue to see the statistic from the labour market as despite by this high number of unemployment, there is still another section which was increasing in employment such as healthcare, public administration and other professional services.
