S’porean Man 63-Year-Old To Pay $3,500 Or Jail 1 Week For Breach Safe Distancing Thrice
A 64-year-old man has been charged with 2 charges for breaching the safe distancing regulation during the circuit breaker periods. Ong King Hwa were fined $3,500 on June 10 when he decided to mee tip with his friend in public to drink beer three times.
He went out and meet them at the stone bench outside Hao Supermarket at Block 74 Whampoa Drive on April 12, May 3, and May 8. As the patrolling officer was giving him advice earlier on the 1st attempt. Ong admitted that on the final attempt May 8, he took out his identity card and challenged the officer to fine him which end up he did no pay the out-of0court composition fines of $300 and $1000 issued earlier on April 12 and May 3.
For this Ong will be entitled to pay up $3,500 fine or to service a week in jail. For each count of breaching safe distancing regulations, he could have been jailed for up to six months, or fined up to $10,000, or both.
