Loanshark Arrested After Harassment For Locking Resident’s Gate
On Jun 3, police reported that there was loanshark harassment at a residential area along Punggol Drive. The resident unit was locked with a padlock and chain with a debtor note attached to the chain.
Throughout the investigation, police officers from the Ang Mo Kio division manage to identify the person in charge of the harassment. On Jun 11, the 34-year-old man was arrested and he has been reported to be involved in similar cases around a few other places.
Police advised members of the public to always stay away from loanshark and not work with or assist them in any way, if you have suspect or know of anyone who can be involved in loansharking activities, you can dial 999 or call the X-Ah Long hotline at 1800-924-5664. If the person is found guilty, he can be charged a fine of $5,000 or not more than $50,000, with mandatory five-year jail terms, mandatory canning up to six strokes.
