4 Student & 1 Staff Tested Positive For New Covid-19 Case

4 Students and 1 Staff Tested Positive For Covid-19 From Anglican High School, CHIJ Katong Convent, CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent, Geylang Methodist Secondary School and Hwa Chong Institution.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) reported on Sunday (7 Jun) that 4 students and 1 staff (non-teacher) from school has been tested positive for Covid-19. These reported cases are from Anglican High School, CHIJ Katong Convent, CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent, Geylang Methodist Secondary School, and Hwa Chong Institution.

The evidence of these cases is most likely to be infected during the circuit breaker period and not after school reopened on June 2 from MOE. All the 29 staff and 100 students who were in close contact with this patient were issued a 14-days leave of absence by MOE as a precaution movement to control this case from spreading.

MOE also added that swabbing may be uncomfortable for these younger students but if they are reported having persistently display of respiratory symptoms then these swab tests will still have to be tested out on these students. As the 5 locations currently will be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly.

Kenneth Mak, Ministry of Health’s Director of Medical Services said it is very important for the community to remain watchful and be disciplined in maintaining the safe distancing with a habit of wearing a mask, avoid unnecessary movement and avoid situation where large crowds will appear will helps out a lot in avoiding this pandemic under controls.
