2 Sri Lankan Men Jailed 8 Months Over Fake S’pore Passport & Forged Identity Card
According to an Immigration & Checkpoint Authority news release, 2 men from Sri Lankan were arrested on Apr 28 for having a false Singapore passport and a forged Singapore Identity Card was a 21-year-old Pushparaj Kapil. While another is 32-year-old Ramchandran Kriysso Prasshad is also arrested for abetting Kapil on these forged documents.
From the reports, it was shown that Prasshad has agreed to help Kapil’s journey to Canada which Prasshad has to liaise with an acquainted on Malaysia side with a man named Muhammad and obtained these counterfeit documents.
But their luck just ran out due to a tight security system at Tuas Checkpoint on Feb 29. Where the officer in duty sensed something wrong with the document as the Identity card and biodata page on the Singapore passport has Kapils name and photograph however the rest of the details doesn’t belong to him.
If convicted, he may be sentenced to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years or to both.
