The vast majority of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update of preliminary figures. 4 cases are Singaporeans or permanent residents.
The breakdown is as follows:
a) Imported cases: 0
b) Cases in the community: 6 (4 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, 2 Work Passes)
c) Work Permit holders (residing outside dormitories): 10
d) Work Permit holders (residing in dormitories): 431
Of the new cases, 93% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.
79 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 1,347 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
There are currently 1,710 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 24 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
It is the ninth day in a row where the new daily infections fell below 1,000.Earlier on Saturday, the multi-ministry task force heading Singapore’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak announced that the tightened circuit breaker measures will remain in place for another week.
Businesses like barbers, home-based bakers and laundry services will be allowed to resume operating on May 12, while some measures will also be adjusted next week.
