Worry not as The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has given people this assurance on Monday as it foresees an increase in queries from people about the cleanliness of ATMs.

Based on report from The Straits Times, MAS said most of the bank has applied the self-disinfecting coating.

The update is that DBS has been applying it on its machines since mid-March. OCBC has been doing it since early April and will finish coating its machines by Thursday (April 16). UOB will start coating its machines on April 17. Almost all local and foreign banks in Singapore have stepped up the cleaning of their ATMs, MAS said.

DBS and OCBC are doing disinfect on their machines daily. OCBC said their ATMs are wiped down daily with another chemical to reinforce the strength of the anti-microbial coating that has been applied.

So relax. Just in case if you want to be safer, wear a glove if you’re heading to ATM tomorrow to be 100%.
