You don’t have to worry anymore as soon, all workers who come into close contact with food will also be required to wear masks. This announcement was made by Minister Lawrence Wong during a Covid-19 task force news conference on Friday (9 Apr) in response to a query by a The Straits Times reporter.
Minster Wong said that the government has already put in place measures requiring food handlers in Singapore to put on face masks to ensure your food is safe.
The food handler will be allowed time to “adjust” to this new rule so don’t be too kan cheong when you do not see them all donning masks for now. Let’s give them some time. There is no deadline will be for these food handlers given but we do hope that this can be done ASAP.
Apart from food handlers, food delivery riders may also have be subjected to the same requirements soon.
Let’s hope that the rule can be implemented ASAP so that we can enjoy our food without worrying.
