This TRF is meant for Singaporeans and permanent residents seeking the one-off S$500 financial aid through the Temporary Relief Fund, online applications and it’s finally opened.
Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development, said this in a Facebook post on Friday (April 3) that so far, there are more than 60,000 submissions have been received since applications opened on Wednesday.
If want to apply, you need to fulfil certain criteria to qualify for the aid, have been heading to the various community centres (CCs) and social service offices run by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) around the island to sign up.
Full criteria is as below:
- Lower- and middle-income Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents affected by the economic impact of COVID-19 who need immediate financial help with basic living expenses.
These are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents who:
- Have lost their jobs or faced a personal income loss of at least 30% due to COVID-19;
- Loss of job or income must have occurred after 23 Jan 2020 when COVID-19 first occurred in Singapore;
- Had a household income of $10,000 and below, or per capita household income of $3,100 and below, before their employment or income was affected; and
- Not currently receiving ComCare assistance.
(Note: ComCare clients currently receive comprehensive support, and will be assisted by SSOs if they require more assistance due to changes in their financial circumstances)
Assistance provided
- One-off $500 cash assistance in April 2020.
- SSOs: Disbursed by cheque.
- Community Centres/Clubs: Disbursed by PayNow or cheque.

- NRIC
- Letter of retrenchment/termination of contract, if applicable
- Relevant documents showing reduction of income as a result of COVID-19 (e.g. payslips, CPF statements), if applicable (Note: Self-declaration accepted with valid reasons)
