Highest Record To Date: 120 New Covic-19 Cases in Singapore for Today! About 20,000 Foreign Workers will be Quarantined!

by Brian Chan April 5, 2020

Today marks the highest ever Covic-19 cases with 120 new cases reported which brings up total of 1,309 cases in Singapore.

This was announced by the Multi-Ministry Task Force (MTF) where this is recorded as the highest single-day jump so far on the confirmed cases of Covid-19 infections. Out of the 120 cases, 116 cases were local transmissions, with just four imported cases.

Two hotspots identified were the foreign worker dormitories of S11 Dormitory @ Punggol ( 2 Seletar North Link) and Westlite Toh Guan dormitory (18 Toh Guan Road East).

There were around 20,000 workers at S11 Dormitory @ Punggol and Westlite in Toh Guan and those 20,000 worked will be sent to quarantined in their rooms for the next 14 days. Other measurement will be taken to lessen interaction of workers in other dormitories. This includes preventing the intermingling of workers between different blocks and floors at dormitories, and staggering meal and recreation times.

Good news for those worker is that the government will provide three meals per day for each worker, and also distributing masks, thermometers and hand sanitisers. That will definitely helps them out while quarantined for 14 days.

Here is the official announcement from the MOH on today’s cases.

So looking back, the Covid-19 breaker measures announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Apr. 3 are designed to break these chains of transmissions is really come at a good time. Everyone need to stay safe for this critical time!
