No Mailing – The Reusable Masks Will Not Be Mailed and You Need To Collect Them at Centres

Most of you must be wondering why not mail the reusable mask instead of collecting them? Good question and the reason why as according to Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing is to prevent wastage

This was back to the previous distributed surgical masks to households in February where Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong has say that “We had deliberated over this, and we felt that if you were to distribute masks via post, there may well be wastage because some households will not need the masks.”

Chan has mentioned that the government has considered sending the masks via post, they have declined to do so for several reasons.

Firstly, not all households may need or want the masks, so posting masks to every household will be a huge waste of resources. He also say that during the previous surgical mask collection exercise, more than 30 per cent of households did not collect them, or think that they needed the masks.

But if you’re worried on the Covid-19 spread as you would be expecting crowd, worry not as the plan is to implement priority queues for seniors and spacing out during the collection times.

Preparation is in place and ready for collection. The reusable mask collection exercise will commence from Sunday, Apr. 5, until the following Sunday, Apr. 12.
