The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) has recently made headlines with they invited women to participate in their local artist Amanda Heng’s art project where the Singirl Online Project features photos of female volunteer’s bare bottoms. SAM also stated on their social media post that the project was put forth due to a playful and defiant point of view of the Singapore Girl where the Museum has called women of all shapes and shades to contribute to the art project by submitting photos of their own bottoms.

However, this project then received strong criticism from the members of the public which find that the art project was inappropriate as it is showing some sensitive parts of women. In response to this, SAM posted a statement on their Facebook page on May 21 which they thanked those who had shared their view on the Singirl Online Project and apologized for any offense that it had caused, explaining that the museum and Heng never intended to insult or objectify women.
