A Japanese astronaut gave a shout-out to Singapore after the school he once attends was in Singapore from all the way up in Space. Akihiko Hoshide is an engineer and astronaut with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). On 25 April, The Japan Times reported that Hoshide and three other astronauts went up to the International Space Station (ISS) on a commercial SpaceX ship. He will serve as commander of the ISS and a mission specialist up in space for six months.
Hoshide has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Keio University, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Houston, Cullen College of Engineering, and apparently he also studied in Singapore.
