Sembawang Hot Spring Station and Other Water Play Park will Remain Closed Until May 30

The National Parks Board (NParks) announced on May 8 that all water play parks and recreational water facilities will be closed until May 30. This is to ensure the safety measure announced due to the rising community Covid-19 cases in Singapore. According to NParks, the following recreational water facilities and play areas will be closed till the end of the month:
- Hot spring stations at Sembawang Hot Spring Park
- Water play area at Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden at the Singapore Botanic Gardens
- Wading pool and jet fountain at Coastal PlayGrove at East Coast Park
- Wading pool at Fort Canning Park
- Water play area at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
- Clusia Cove at Jurong Lake Gardens
All campsites and barbecue pits in the parks will also be closed from May 1 to May 30, and NParks also suspending application for hiking permits for those who wish to organize a group tour to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Central Catchment Nature Reserve, and the surrounding Nature Parks. Group tours are now limited to 20 people, with up to five people in each group.
While other social and recreational activities like sports, picnic, photography, or kite flying should be limited to a maximum of five participants. Instructors and trainers need to submit a registration with SportSG and also an application to NParks to conduct organized outdoor exercise classes with more than five participants and it is capped at 30 or limited to the capacity of the approved venue.
According to the Ministry of Health, first-time offenders who have breached safe distance measures may face imprisonment for up to six months or a fine not exceeding $10,000 or both. Second-time offenders may face imprisonment for up to 12 months or a fine not exceeding $20,000 or both.
