A young woman who is not in Singapore has shared a video where she was confronted by an MRT staff where she is on her Social Visit Pass to Singapore and she had to pull down her mask briefly for 10 seconds to catch her breath at the station. An MRT staff spotted her and then pulled her and her friend over and she recorded the video during the incident with the conversation between a man who is the MRT staff with her.
- Man: “The fines here are not cheap. If you can afford to pay all these fines, go ahead and do. I don’t mind. But if you can’t pay, then you go to court.”
- Woman: “I understand.”
- Man: “Got it?”
- Woman: “Yes.”
- Man: “You from the social visit, don’t bring your culture to Singapore. If your culture is… don’t behave, don’t obey the government, don’t bring your culture to Singapore. Singapore is followed Singapore law.”
- Friend: “Don’t worry she’s been staying in Singapore… [indistinct]”
- Man: “Yes, you jolly well follow Singapore law.”
The woman then said that she understands that she is guilty for not wearing a mask but in order to sent to court and being treated like a drug seller or worst crime, she finds that the MRT staff is too harsh on his words toward her.
