The Lyrid meteor shower is one of the earliest records of meteor showers where the first Lyrid meteor shower occurred in 687 bc. The source of the Lyrid meteor shower is caused by debris left by a comet named C/1861 G1 which last appeared in the 19th century. This meteor shower does not produce a large number of meteors but it will produce a bright and dramatic shower.
The best observation time for this is from the evening of April 22 to the early morning of April 23.
