LTA And Police Catch 16 Cyclist Beating Red Light, Riding Against Traffic Flow on 17 &18 April 2021

As the topic of cyclist’s road etiquette was being questioned recently due to the popularity of cycling in Singapore and the possibility of acquiring a bicycle registration has been a hot debate recently. From 17 April to 18 April, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officers and Traffic Police Officer has conducted a few operations all over the island and caught 34 cyclist who has flout the rules.
LTA together with Traffic Police has focused on communicating safe cycling messages to active mobility users in locations such as AYE, West Coast Highway, Bukit Timah and Tanah Merah Coast Road. In their operation, 16 cyclists were caught riding on the public road without helmets while another 16 were caught beating the red light. Two cyclists were also caught riding against the flow of traffic.
