The Malaysian contemporary artist Red Hong Yi’s artwork on climate change was featured on the cover of the latest Time Magazine issue where the Sabahan artist created a 2.3m x 3m world map covered by 50,000 green tipped matchsticks. The green matchsticks symbolizing the tree where they set alight to highlight how climate change can affect and destroy the world today.
As a covid pandemic continue to assail the world, we are reminded that there is no country unaffected by the global crisis whether is the pandemic or economic collapse. Behind the scenes video posted on her Instagram page, Red said that took several days to make this whole artwork out and several safety precautions were also taken during lighting up the matchsticks.
