Food Delivery Rider Spotted His Rival of Food Delivery Robot!

A food delivery rider in Singapore somehow bumped into the future of food delivery which is a robot where it is making a food delivery to customers, in the funny video of the possible future crossing path was shared on TikTok on April 11. In the video, it shows that the human food delivery rider asking the cute-looking food delivery robot as it is stealing the business and ask if it wants to fight in a joking way. The person in the video jokingly in Malay and English “You want a fight? Oi! I do deliver food here, okay? I work at GrabFood, not you.”

The encounter happens was outside Nanyang Executive Centre on the Nanyang Technological University Campus, where the robot manages to stop its tracks as it sensed an approaching obstacle who is the delivery rider then the robot subsequently moved on its own again. The machines are known as FoodBots which are developed by Whizz Mobility, a student start-up at NTU.

This robot has delivered over 6,000 lunch and dinner orders on the campus in Jurong over the eight months from end-circuit breaker June 2020 to February 2021. These robots can each carry a load of up to 50kg and move at 5km speed which is the average speed of pedestrians.
There are five of this robot and they are equipped with all-terrain, programmed to stay on the pavement and the entire system is not human-free yet, where Whizz Mobility pays students to monitor the robots in real-time through the camera and the students need to guide the robots to move safely when they are at places such as road crossing. Whizz Mobility is currently in partnership with Cates, a food delivery mobile application and there are at least 60 food and beverages merchant on its platform by February 2021.
