The New Purple Train For North-East Line (NEL) Has Arrive From Spain

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that on April 4, the new purple batch of the train has arrived from Barcelona, Spain where the train is manufactured and assembled and similar to the first two generations of the train that runs on the North-East Line (NEL) the previous train are manufactured by French train maker Alstom.

This new train is having even more purple due to its side purple design and this new train will be added to the new fleet of trains and currently will undergo testing and commissioning at Sengkang Depot. This train will be expected to be operational in 2024 when the North-East Line extension started. The new train also comes with special features such as a condition monitoring system which will gather data from the equipment on the train, so the train operator can monitor the health of the trains continuously and carry out predictive maintenance.
Other than this, the train will also have upgraded air-conditioning, ventilation and passenger information system and also new interior fittings such as seats, panels, and flooring.
