Police Received Multiple Report of New Telegram Groups Sharing Photo and Video of Girl and Woman Without Consent

Police have found a report has been made on multiple new Telegram chat groups which have surfaced with the purpose of sharing photos and videos of Singaporean women and girls without their consent and knowledge on March 30 and the investigation is ongoing. The Association of Woman For Action and Research (Aware) said this group appears to be offshoots of the high profile, which these groups are obscene on sharing subjects such as nude, clips of girls in secondary school, junior college uniforms, female commuters on public transport.

More than 10 such groups have found with the most having about 2,000 members to 7,000 subscribers and over 500 photographs and video clips were shared in some groups. A National University of Singapore (NUS) student Nisha Rai, 21 years old has found out about such a group by chance on Twitter and reported them to the police on March 24. She has also created an online petition calling for police to shut down these groups.
Rai, alongside 20 others have helped to uncover almost 60 of such groups and she and others also reached out to 30 victims to provide them with emotional support. Aware also said that these new groups re-emerging are not surprising after the a handful of the previous SG Nasi Lemak members were arrested.
