LTA Tightens Security Checks at Selected MRT Station Including Metal Detector Screening and X-Ray Scan

On 1st April 2021, the enchanced security screening measures similiar to airport checks has kicked off at selected MRT stations. This checks which included metal detector screening, x-ray scans were conducted at random. Each station, there will have up to four transit security officers positioned with screening equipments just before the fare gate.
Commuters will be requested to empty their pockets and place all their belonging into a tray which will went through an x-ray scanner and after that it will followed by a walk through metal detector which will be scanned by a security officers. For this process, it will take under 30 seconds and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) mentioned that the introduction of enchanced security screenings at selected MRT stations went smoothly for the first day and they will continue to work with public transport operators to review and enhance the process.
This screening will be roated periodically across MRT stations on all rail lines.
