21 yo Found Dead After Went For Swimming in Serangoon Canal With Friends at 5 am

A 21-year-old man were drowned on 28 March early morning after he went swimming with a group of friends around 5 am at Serangoon Canal. The group of friends reported that the victim went missing right after getting into the waters and the victim’s father was alerted by the police around 7 am which he rushed to the scene.
The victim’s friend did not hear or see any sign of struggling during the incident and they started to search for him which later they requested help from the police. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call around 5.45 am for water rescue assistance at the canal.

Two divers from the Disaster Assistance Rescue Team (DART) were deployed to perform the underwater search and an underwater Remotely-Operated Vehicle (ROV) were used to find the victim due to the poor visibility underwater and to reduce search time.
The victim’s body is discovery 6 m from the shore and at a depth about 2 m which the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
