New Cross Island Line Will Cut Travelling Time to 20min From Hougang to Sin Ming

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced a new development in a press release on Mar, 26 where the Hougang Cross Island Line (CRL) will be starting constructions in the fourth quarter of 2021 and this new MRT line will shorten the travel time from Sin Ming and Loyang From Hougang by at least 20 minutes. Which the normal will take up to 40 minutes to get to Sin Ming and 55 minutes to get to Loyang from Hougang.
This CRL is the Singapore’s eighth MRT line and will serve as a future development in the eastern, north-eastern and western corridor where it will be linking major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi region.
This CRL will have half of its stations as interchanges with other rail line so that it can be more convenient for commuters to travel across and with around 100,000 household will gain benefit from this line such as Changi Beach Park and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.
This project of design and construction of the Hougang CRL has been awarded to Samsung C&T Corporation.
