For those who has fall in love with pork satay will aware of a famous legendary and illegal Tiong Bahru Pushcart Satay Man, who is know as Ah Pui. Unlike other satay vendor, he has been operating his unlawful yet iconic wooden pushcart in Tiong Bahru from 1980s till 2010s and he is loved by all his customer. In the past, he was fined a total of four times by the authorities for illegal hawking prior and he was last operating illegally in the early 2010s which he decided that he had enough with his multiple fines with the law. And he is now setting up a permanent shop at 195 Pearl Hill Cafe.

He has been a master of the satay maker for over 50 years which he started learning it since at age of 11. Which he still insist on the traditional slicing meat by hand where the uneven, crafted like texture on the satay and creating these legendary pork satay. But because of this painstaking food prep process, there are limited sticks of satay which can be made and sold every day. Now, he only shows up on Saturdays to grill the satay and he has appointed one disciple to take over the cooking on other days while he will supervise the making of the satay when he is not doing the grilling.

Ah Pui was asked by the shop owner of 195 Pearl Hill Cafe after he stopped illegal hawking and he agreed to join up as a partner of the cafe and one of the cafe owners also become the new satay disciple. Ah Pui’s satay is so famous that the current waiting list is six months long till October 2021 and the price for this legendary satay is $9 for 10 sticks. Ah Pui’s satay is certainly costlier than regular satays but his pork satay has that extra meat and fat which gives the balance taste when it taste together with the sauce and the peanut sauce is also having a tangy pineapple taste as the fruit is used in a far larger proportion. - 5 min walk from Exit C @ Chinatown Station (Downtown Line & North-East Line).
- Walk into People’s Park Food Centre and exit from the back of the food centre.
- You will see a flight of steps near the car park gantry opposite the food centre that leads up to a four-storey building that is 195 Pearls Hill Terrace.

Turn left into Pearl’s Hill Terrace from Eu Tong Sen Street, and drive 100m uphill to arrive at a large blue sign that says 195 Pearl’s Hill Terrace. Drive in.
