Man Fined $3K For Illegally Selling Fighting Fish and Bearded Dragon From Ang Mo Kio Flat

In Singapore, owning a pet is legal however, keeping these pets for business purposes and selling them are illegal. A 28-year-old Ang Mo Kio resident were caught for doing so, he was fined $3,000 for using his home as a pet shop to sell 10 fighting fish and keeping wildlife without approval which is the bearded dragon. He’s starting selling in 2019 and only lasted till April 2020 when NParks received anonymous information back then. Upon visiting his home on July 2020, officers found 2 Central Bearded Dragon in separated tanks.

The Bearded dragon is a native creature from Australia and often smuggled over from Johor Bahru, Malaysia and breeding of animals in authorities way or unsanitary condition are a total ban here. The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) website has stated that one must obtain a licence from them before opening a pet shop here in Singapore.
