Did You Know Beer Vs Cola, Which one is Actually Healthier? You Will Be Surprised!

When it comes to sugar intake, a lot of us will be worrying and in the past, the myth of having beer bellies seems like not true. The U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) has managed to analyse the contents of both which the USDA database shows that the cola contain the most but not all the minerals found in beer and cola doesn’t contain any vitamin at all. While beers provides thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6, follate, and vitamin B-12. This is because beer has no fat, no sugar, fewer calories, less carbohydrate, minerals and vitamins while coke has none at all.

The glycemic index (GI) which measure how fast the food or beverage cause our blood sugar level to rise where food with higher GI cause a rapid rise in blood sugar and the GI can be misleading because it has glycemic load (GL) and glycemic index (GI), where GL is much accurate and realistic and it shows both the quality of carbs.  For example, a watermelon has a high GI of 72 but having a GL of 2 per 100 gram only, and this means it has high carbs that quickly raise blood sugar but it has very few low carbs due to low GL.

So when it comes to beer vs cola, beer has only half the GL (7.5) of cola (15) and people who are focusing on diet will tends to focus on low glycemic load in order to:

  • Burn more calories.
  • Lose weight and keep it off easier.
  • Keep good and consistent blood sugar levels.
  • Lower their risk of circulation disease.
  • Reduce risk of diabetes.

Beer when compares to cola, drinking alcohol in moderate level leads to better health and longevity compare to cola. So, now you should know which one is better right? But it doesn’t mean you all can consume more beer. 😀
