Frying Nuggets To Fire Evacuation at Tampines HDB Block with 8 People Evacuated
On 5 March, and an incident took place at Block 813 Tampines Street 81 when a brother and sister were at home and as their parents were out of home that time, the brother was frying up some chicken nuggets for his sister and himself and for a while the sister smelled something burning and decided to investigate and the sister saw the pan on fire and turned off the electric stove.
Together the siblings smothered the flames with a blanket and items of clothing. However, the plastic shelf nearby the stove continued to melt and shortly it reignited the fire and the siblings had no choice but to evacuated from the unit and alert the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Along with the siblings, six other nearby unit were asked to evacuated prior to SCDF’s arrival and the fire was put out with a dry powder extinguisher and no injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
