Sembawang and Sengkang Will have New Hawker Centres With Spaced Out Tables For Less Crowding Solution
Hawker centres are the places we always love to lepak and there will be great news as more hawker centre are popping up by the end of 2021, which are the Bukit Canberra Hawker Centre in Sembawang, and the Fernvale Hawker Centre and Market in Sengkang.
Both the Bukit Canberra and Fernvale Hawker Centres should be open by the end of 2021 and currently the delays in their opening are due to construction works being held up by Covid-19 and for residents of Sembawang, the Bukit Canberra Hawker centre will be a part of integrated sport and community hub too, with 40 stalls and more than 700 seats and patrons can dine-in a park like environment too.
For for Sengkang residents, the Fernvale Hawker Centre is a part of the Fernvale Community Club which includes a wet market and a childcare centre. Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Amy Khor highlighted a new programme to enhance the environment at hawker centres on 4 March and new hawker centres will have better spaced tables and aisles to minimise crowding too.
One more hawker centre, the Senja Hawker Centre will open in early 2022 and it will have green features such as food waste digestion, solar panels and rainwater harvesting facilities.
