Vending Machine Will Use SingPass to verify age for beer purchase by end of 2021
Some vending machines which are selling Alcoholic beverages in Singapore soon will offer an identity check process where buyers will have to verify that they are at least 18-year-old, which is the legal drinking age and they can just use it by their SingPass at the machine. This new feature will incorporate into vending machines which will be launch by the third quarter of 2021 by fintect company Ascan.
As buyer will have to scan a QR code at the machine using their SingPass can be used for wide-ranging services. Currently, SingPass offers access to more than 1,400 everyday services including digital IC, face verification and digital signing as SingPass app user base has been growing since over the year with 2.5 million users on the app now.
SingPass is one of the most downloaded apps in Singapore in 2020 and has tripled in its userbase in the past year, the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) said.
