2 Woman Hospitalized After Suffering Muscle Breakdown after Spin Class
Spin class is an increasingly popular workout which it is a moving wheel of static exercise bikes that its participants enjoy the workout from riding exercise and it will offer you a quite fun experience with dimmed light, pulsing, high tempo music and unlike tracks played in club. However, Michelle (not her real name), 24-year-old was making good progress on her New Year’s resolution which is to start working and she has attended the spin class. However, she might face some real danger with just a few days.
As Rhabdomyolysis which is also known as muscle breakdown happens when muscle are so injured over on overworked that their fibres die and by-product cells will start to release into the bloodstream and it can cause by physical trauma such as car accident and it can also happen to those who over-exert themselves during workout.
Her fateful spin class took place in Friday, 19 February and Michelle after having her first taste of the great experience spinning class and she headed to work right after it, but she felt muscle soreness that set in the day after. And she was no stranger to intense workout which she has been gruelling physical training session in her days of practising mixed martial art (MMA).
However, on three days later, Michelle woke up feeding extremely weak and she couldn’t move her legs normally too and her thigh muscles had also intensified into something like a severe cramp. While another woman, Stefanie (also not her real name), a 21-year-old undergraduate student who also got rhabdomyolysis after attending her first spinning class in early February which she also felt a pain so severe that she had to use ride-hailing service to get back to her hostel after the workout class. Michelle, she found that her urine was a dark Coca-cola colour and because it was not blood and due to her body was trying to rid itself by the dying muscle tissue.
