Singapore Zoo Welcomes A New Male Lion Baby, Simba. The Son of 20 YO Mufasa
Welcomes, Little Simba to the Singapore Zoo
Introduce you all to the little Simba, where this little cute baby lion was born at the Singapore Zoo last October 23, and his father is the 20-year-old resident lion named Mufasa. Where Simba was conceived through assisted reproduction at the Wildlife Healthcare and Research Center in Singapore Zoo, as the Keepers and Veterinarians worked hard to collect the semen from Mufasa, a geriatric lion using the process of electro-ejaculation.
The memories of Mufasa
Sadly that Simba will never get to meet Mufasa as he has pass away following the procedures, but it was due to Mufasa deteriorating health. Currently, Simba has been cared by a lioness named Kayla, but the keepers noticed that Simba is having a hard time feeding from Kayla due to inflammation of her mammary glands. As keepers decided to supply Simba with bottle feeding instead.

However, the human intervention fortunately did not affect the relationship between Kayla and Simba as Kayla is a very protective mum where she plays with Simba and shared her feed with him. While Simba will usually follow Kayla behind most of the time.
For the moment, the visitor won’t be able to see Simba yet as he is still housed at an off exhibition area to bond with Kayla privately as later on he will be introduced to other adult lions. And Simba is the only two remaining male lions at the Singapore Zoo while the other is being a seven-year-old named Simba.
