Driverless Buses Available in Two Areas Of Singapore with a Small Fees

Did you all know that there is a new commuter bus which is driverless happening in Singapore, where it is also first to pilot these after the KPMG autonomous vehicles’ readiness index last year which ranked Singapore first in the world. This new services which is headed by ST Engineering are operated by SMRT and SBS transit which is also known as the two largest bus operators here in Singapore.

This new driverless bus services will be running in Science Park 2 near Haw Par Villa and Jurong Island with a round trip costing 40 cents and $2 respectively where the aim is to bring the technology to a step closer to ensure Singapore’s mainstream public transport system becomes more advance in future where this autonomous bus services will be able to use less man power and physical manpower as public transport will usually face the problems of not able to hire enough people.
For those who are still worried about this autonomous driverless bus, this service actually started to operate three months on Sentosa in 2019 where it has ferried more than 6,000 members of the public free of charges without any incident happens. Where now the new trial, a slower speed limit and less congested traffic in the areas is being held following regulation on autonomous vehicles form the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and at all times, there will be a driver stays at the wheel in case of emergencies, while a bus ambassador is stationed on the vehicles to address commuters question and doubts.
With this new service, commuter will be able to make booking on app, pay their fares using credit or debit card and board the bus when it makes loop during specified time periods and also there will be able to view where the bus is on the app to plan their trips better.
