Poly and ITE Graduates Can Choose Hawkers With Allowance of Up to $1,000 monthly
If you always dream of becoming a hawker since you at the plate of nice dish from the coffee shop near you but you somehow got interested in cooking at the Hawker center then now you can find a solution as Poly and ITE graduates can now choose a new hawker training program which aimed to get young people into the hawker trade which will be launch in Singapore March this year.
This program which is called Work-Study Post-Diploma where it is first of its kind under the Skills Future program. Temasek Polytechnic will be working together with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and the National Environment Agency (NEA) to launch it under this new Hawkers’ Development Program (HDP).
This program is open to all recent graduates from polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Educations (ITE). Where this 12 month program, the first two months consist of classroom work than students will go for a four-month apprenticeship and a six-month mentorship with experienced hawkers. There will be about 50 slots available over three years which is a limited and both mentions and apprentices will receive monthly allowances. Mentors will receive $500 monthly while the apprentice will get $1,000 monthly.
