Battle of Bak Kwa and Best Place to Get this Decadent CNY Treats

When it comes to Chinese New Year, where the undoubtedly popular bak kwa which is a must as this sweet, smoky pork jerky has those charred edges and everyone just loves to munch on it but now here are a list of favorite bak kwa where you can ensure you have purchased some nicest bak kwa back home during this upcoming festive season.

 

Peng Guan Bak Kwa

Every order is hadnmade from scratch and done to order so they are absolutely fresh here. You can choose between the traditional options or the chilli bak kwa here.

Using the traditional recipe which has been handed down over four generations, this family edition of bak kwa is offering their bak kwa with grain fed Australia pork and char grilled for a subtle smokey flavor. This store take on this CNY treat where it is made with free range Borrowdale pork from Australia where it uses 60 per cent less salt and sugar than most where they are also free from additives, preservatives and food coloring. They are selling out fast so best to make an order now.

Sang Hock Guan

If you like the authentic and traditional treats then this little old school shop in Ang Mo Kio has it all for you where you can find their meat here are right on par with other contenders on thsi list.

Kim Hock Guan

This store which sets back history back to 1905, where it remains a family owned and operated business with a loyal following where this brand utilizes century old production methods to remain their traditional BBQ sliced pork and spicy sliced pork bak kwa.

Hu Zhen Long

It has been around since 1948 and their current shopfront still has that sense of nostalgia with their traditional decor and wooden displays, bside this, their bak kwa are still using traditional charcial grill and they ahve other unique flaours such as crocodile meat and BBQ lobster variations.

This shop offers bacon, red yeast, honey, Korubuta and they even offer turkey bak kwa and crocodile bak kwa.

The meatless version ($58 for 888 grams) is created with 100% tempeh alongside ingredients like honey, shoyu, five-spice powder, red wine and vinegar.

Established since 1985, this store is still using the traditional method instead of modern machinery where they are still using Chinese herbs on their recipe and they even have ginseng bak kwa and duck bak kwa.
