Smoking Ban At All Hawker Centre to Curb Secondhand Smoke Exposure
Hawker places are the communal places where friends and families gather for meals and to reduce the 2nd hand smoke exposure in these areas, the Ministry for Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) plans on gradually banning smoking at all hawker centres. With this, then the hawker centre visitor will be protected from these 2nd hand smoke, so they get to enjoy a more pleasant dining experience.
Currently, 87 out of 114 hawker centres in Singapore are already smoke-free while remaining 27 have smoking corners where smokers are allowed to take a puff.
