S’porean man Create Special Space for Golden Orb Spider in Home and Let it Stay
A Singaporean man who has somehow found a Golden Orb Spider at his home as decided to let the spider stay and even named it Stacey. Where the owner, Lee at first didn’t get any approval from his wife or mother. But eventually convinced by him to let Stacey stay as Stacey would tend to stay in her web all day long.
Soon after, even his wife also grew to love Stacey, and Lee will take the task of feeding her which his wife would also help to mist Stacey’s web in the morning with water. Stacey eventually die on 17 December 2020, and she has reached the size of 5.5 inch or palm size. Lee also mentioend that he has always fond of spider since kid.
Golden Orb=Weavers are actually not uncommon in Singapore and can be found in nature areas like Sungei Buloh Nature Reserver, this species of spider is well-known for their yellow webs and pretty large. Sometimes this web is so huge and silk threads so strong that small birds and bat can be ensnared and fed upon. The female spider can grow up to 20 cm in length while males can be 4 to 10 times smaller only.
