Thailand Bans Food, Drink, Newspapers and Magazine on Domestic Flight to curb the Coronavirus
In an effort to curb the tide of the current coronavirus, the Thailand government has banned food, drinks and even any printed materials other than safety information cards on board domestic flights. The airline have to follow the regulations or could face possible penalty from their regulator, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. As this is the second time that such move has been taken where the previous ban were taken place on April 26, 2020 and was lifted on 31 August.
This is due to cleaning time after each stop of domestic flight is extremely short and since operators tends to do the quicker turnaround as possible where having these non-essential reading materials on board would create a less risk of virus exposure. However, the visitor are still allowed to bring their own magazines or newspapers on board, but they will be most likely to asked to keep those item with them when they deplane.
The consumption of food or drink is also prohibited on domestic flights, even if passengers bring it on board, as masks must be worn at all times.
