Wonder Woman 1984 managed to Gross out US$38.5m outside US in China

Wonder Woman 1984 managed to Gross out US$38.5m outside the US in China

When it comes to the big blockbuster movie, all movie tends to take a large chunk from the China market due to the population and trends of moviegoers in China. Wonder Woman 1984 was expecting a high return but it was just hitting the disappointing US$38.5 million overseas only which might be a sign of the current public health catastrophe of the current pandemic which is affecting the movies. As the revenues around China were still down at 30% lower.

The Chinese action movie, The Rescue also just made under US$36 million in its initial weekend which is far below projections and could mean the film will lose money. While Wonder Woman 1984 was intended to be one of the holiday season’s biggest release but with the current pandemic, which Warner Bros has opted to debut the film earlier in the US on HBO Max when it opens in cinema on 25 December which only gets a robust rollout overseas. The film only manages to gross-out US$3.6 million in Taiwan, US$2 million in Thailand, US$1.7 million in Brazil, and US$1.6 million in Mexico and Japan.

Warners Bros is announcing that in the light of the pandemic it would release its entire 2021 film which includes the favorites like Dune and The Matrix 4 on HBO max at the same time they open in theatres and with 66% of movie theatres in the United States closed now, new films are struggling to sell tickets.

While, in North America, Sony’s Monster Hunter only managed to debut in first place with US$2.2 million which the movie cost US$60 million to produce and looks like it will lose money in its theatrical run.
