Woman Fined $11K for Selling Illegal Imports and Selling E-Cigs on Carousell
A woman, Sarah Davinia Ng who she was used to selling clothes on Carousell suffered a profit loss during the past year, therefore, she turned to sell e-cigarettes on February last year. While later she was caught after an undercover officer from the Health Sciences Authority’s tobacco regulation branch pretended to purchase her goods.
Where Ng has imported over 200 electronic Hookahs where are the traditional water vessels used to smoke shisha and this product is banned in Singapore since 2018. Which she obtained all her imports from Aliexpress and sold 28 items to 6 different buyers on Carousell.
She even sold these Sisha with different flavours such as menthol, blueberry, grape and strawberry and she will usually list it on Carousell then the interested buyer can contact her there or through WhatsApp then upon on agreement there will be a method of in-person meetings or bank transfer and mailing.
However, on 26 February 2019, an undercover officer has enquired about 10 e-hookahs and she offered him the price for $75 instead of the usual $80 where they arranged to meet in early March somewhere close to her mother-in law’s resident and later as Ng’s husband meet up with the undercover officer were detailed for investigation and then Ng was later detained at her home.
On Thursday 17 December, she has pleaded guilty to 7 charges of importing and selling these devices under Tobacco Act 21 and her other similar charges were also taken into consideration and sentencing. So did anyone of you bought anything from her too?
