43-year-old Woman Arrested Due to Under Mental Health Act Near Ang Mo Kio Hub

In a recent viral video that was posted on Dec. 15, we can see that there are a few police officers which were using force to restrain a woman at a traffic light stop in Ang Mo Kio, and at the beginning of the video, 2 police officer can be seen kneeling on the ground and try to restraint the woman down.

While later on a female passerby can be heard saying in Malay “Why did they handcuff the woman they can’t handcuff her” as later a passerby man wearing a red shirt shout at the officer “Eh! Hello, she’s a lady you know, Don’t use force lah”.

After that, the policeman replies that she was being aggressive towards us and we are doing our job which eventually leads to the earlier incident which the police said that they have received a call for assistance at 4.43 pm on 14 December which a woman who was believed to be of unsound mind and creating trouble and as police arrive they attempted to engage the 43-year-old woman but she was not cooperative and started to shout incoherently. In which, the police also added that she is behaving in an erratic and aggressive manner.

Therefore, for her safety and the safety of another road user, the police officers proceed to restain her and bring her to safety, and later on, the female officer subsequently arrived to assist too. And police also explained that they have a duty to protect lives and property as well as maintain peace and order, and male officers are allowed to apprehend women in the execution of their duties when there isn’t a female officer present.
