40 Glass Shard Found in Girl’s Drink at Sentosa Hotel, Manager Apologise, and Offer Medical Compensation over it
On 7 December a family staycation was cut short after their 10-year-old girl found glass shards at the bottom of her drinks during their stay at W Singapore@Sentosa Cove where on 4 December Friday, they were dining at a restaurant in the Hotel, and during the breakfast, both her daughter’s orders a bottle of apple juice but the halfway her elder daughter found that something was wrong in the drink as she spat out a small piece of what they thought it was plastic and thinking nothing of it, they continue with their meal until their 10-year-old finish the drink, which they found more plastic pieces is at the bottom of the drink.
According to the Shin Min Daily News, they only discover it was glass when they shook the glass and heard the clinks noise which was glass shards and there was around 40 piece of glass shards found in the drinks. After realizing this, Ms. Wang hurriedly check her youngest daughter’s drink and notified the hotel restaurant staff. As then the Hotel Manager learned that Ms. Wang wanted to make a report of the incident to the police which with the executive’s arrival, they told that if she wanted to make a claim of her medical bills, she can take the incident to the court and the executives didn’t even bother to check on the well being of he daughter at the time.
Unhappy with the way the hotel executives reaction, Ms. Wang lodged a police report, and later on, the Hotel’s general manager has contacted Ms. Wang and expressed regret over the incident and he offered to visit the girl in hospital and also compensation for the girl’s medical expenses which the family rejected the offer.
According to a W Singapore – Sentosa spokesperson they mentioned that this is the first time they face such an incident and they will evaluate the matter seriously as the safety and welfare of their customer are the most important thing to them. So let hope that the girl will have a speedy recovery and hopefully the Hotel management can work out to prevent such an incident from occurring again in the future.
